Rhosam-Mia: Pahayag Phase 3
Six remote locations, one extraordinary production.
OTT was tasked to translate the duo’s brilliant ideas from paper to screen. While most would want branding all over the place, Rhosam-Mia opted to keep things minimal to allow the artistry to come through the viewers’ screens. The bells and whistles didn’t come in the form of in your face visuals but through the execution of their vision.
In a country where bandwidth fluctuates rain or shine, executing a live stream like this was nerve-wracking because we didn’t know what to expect in terms of connectivity during the live broadcast. DJ Hiroking from Tokyo was the only cast member who had a stable internet connection.
Our rehearsals were full of tech concerns (mostly because we couldn’t understand each other) due to bandwidth issues for some of the cast members. This challenge eventually weaved itself into Rhosam-Mia’s concept by intentionally blending in what would seem like errors (ex. overlapping of audio) to what we expected to happen during the live broadcast (ie. lag, pixelated clips, etc.).
In a nutshell, the directive for OTT was to make the whole experience look like a video conference call . . . but not. Show something familiar to almost everyone but still make them think how we could’ve customized something that’s so usual in today’s times. And with an experimental project like this, there’s no formula to follow.
